After three months in Costa Rica and another three in Mexico, it was time to stop home and visit our families. Chris and I also had some things to catch up on after half a year of traveling. That’s why our first stop in Canada was Regina, Saskatchewan. Let me tell you something about Saskatchewan: nobody knows either how to spell it or where it is. When someone asks us where we’re from in Canada, this is usually how it goes: Chris: I’m from Saskatchewan. Stranger: Cool. Virginie: And I’m from Québec. Stranger: OH! Québec, I love Québec, it’s such …
Coming back home: Regina
Monteverde and the cloud forest
After Arenal, we were going to Monteverde. There’s two ways to get there: by car, or by boat. Going around the lake takes waaay longer, we booked the boat trip. We were on the lake for half an hour and it was just so quiet and peaceful. The only thing Chris was thinking about is: where could I put a cabin here? I may have scream a little bit and thought the bat would leave, because they usually don’t like light. Well, this thing stayed! So while I went hiding …
Jaguar Rescue Center
We visited the Jaguar Rescue Center last week and had a lot of fun there! All the animals that are there are supposed to go back to nature, if they can. Some can’t, because they’ve been too injured or had too many contacts with humans, but most of them are going to go back. During our visit, we saw a little bit of everything: birds that had been shot in the wings or that lost an eye, an endangered white tail deer, an anteater that had grown up as someone’s pet, an ocelot that someone tried to take to Panama, a sloth …
