The main reason Chris and I wanted to go to León was to go volcano boarding. Other than that, we didn’t’ have much plans and expectations. We knew León was a pretty big city with a very popular cathedral, but we didn’t expect to actually fall in love with the city like that! León is a university city with batidos (smoothies) restaurants at every corner and the cheapest comedors I’ve been to. It has a pretty young crowd and a lot of food to try. But that’s not it: the city center itself is beautiful, with tons of churches and colonial …
Exploring León: A Trip Back To The Colonial Era
Volcano Boarding in León, Nicaragua
I don’t write many posts for the blog, but this is one that got me a bit excited. Virginie and I went to León, Nicaragua for a few days and when I heard you could slide down a volcano on a piece of wood, I got pretty excited. For one, how many times in your life do you get to climb a volcano? Even better if you get to ride down the side on a little toboggan! The day started as most tours usually do. Everyone meets up early in the morning and gets in some form of transportation. True to …
A Day in Arenal (Zip-lining and tube river rafting)
Because it was on our list to go see a volcano and do some zip-lining, we decided to combine all of that! On our second day in Arenal, we got picked up at our hotel in the morning to drive close to the volcano, where the zip-line was. We did the Sky Tram/Treck tour and had tooooons of fun! The first zip-line was the highest one and it was CRAZY to fly like that, on top of the rainforest. It was a bit scary of course (Chris was more scared than I am, which is kind of impressive in itself!), but …
Baldi Hot Springs
We decided to visit a little bit of Costa Rica this weekend and be tourists for once. First place we stopped was La Fortuna/Arenal. We arrived there at 4 pm and had nothing to do on that first day, so we decided to visit the hot springs. I was expecting a few pools, like what you would find in a spa in Canada. Nope. That’s not what it was. Baldi was actually a gigantic resort with slides, pools from 110F to 60F, very expensive lockers and average food. We actually had a great time there, after being on a shuttle for …
