We just can’t get enough of the fresh food here! An other thing that we simply just love is guacamole! There’s nothing better to eat as a snack than this mix of avocados and tomatoes. I’ve never been a fan of it until we came here. We first tried it in a restaurant and fell in love with it. Since them, we’ve been making our own every week. Our ingredients: 2 ripe avocados 1 big tomato Half of a small onions A little bit of garlic (you have to do it grandma style, where you just put as much as …

After being here for a bit longer, our smoothie recipe changed a bit.  While our first one was a bit “Canadian” still, this version is much more Costa Rican! Fruits are way more exotic and it changes depending on what is ripe and available at the moment. Here’s one of our favorite! So here are our main ingredients! 1 coconut (we keep that, it’s a must. When …

After Arenal, we were going to Monteverde. There’s two ways to get there: by car, or by boat. Going around the lake takes waaay longer, we booked the boat trip. We were on the lake for half an hour and it was just so quiet and peaceful. The only thing Chris was thinking about is: where could I put a cabin here? On the other side of the lake, we still had a good two hours of car. It was the hardest two hours in my life. The roads were in dirt and kept going up and down. We kept …

Because it was on our list to go see a volcano and do some zip-lining, we decided to combine all of that! On our second day in Arenal, we got picked up at our hotel in the morning to drive close to the volcano, where the zip-line was. We did the Sky Tram/Treck tour and had tooooons of fun! The first zip-line was the highest one and it was CRAZY to fly like that, on top of the rainforest. It was a bit scary of course (Chris was more scared than I am, which is kind of impressive in itself!), but …
